Aztec Tacos

Accessibility Statement

Last updated: May 24, 2026

1. Our Commitment

Aztec Tacos Inc. is committed to ensuring that our website and digital services are accessible to all individuals, including people with disabilities. We recognize the importance of providing an inclusive online experience and strive to meet or exceed the requirements of:

  • The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (Ontario Regulation 191/11).
  • The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
  • The Canadian Human Rights Act and the Accessible Canada Act (ACA), where applicable.

2. Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following measures to ensure our Website is accessible:

Structure and Navigation

  • Semantic HTML5 elements (header, nav, main, footer, section) for clear document structure.
  • Proper heading hierarchy (single h1 per page with logical subheading levels).
  • ARIA landmark roles on major page regions.
  • Descriptive ARIA labels on navigation menus, buttons, and interactive elements.
  • Skip-to-content capabilities for keyboard users.

Visual Design

  • Sufficient colour contrast ratios between text and background colours (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Responsive layout that adapts to different screen sizes, orientations, and zoom levels.
  • No content relies solely on colour to convey meaning.

Images and Media

  • Meaningful images include descriptive alt text.
  • Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes or aria-hidden to be ignored by assistive technologies.
  • SVG icons used for navigation and actions include accessible labels.

Keyboard Accessibility

  • All interactive elements (links, buttons, form controls, menus) are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone.
  • Visible focus indicators are provided for keyboard-focused elements.
  • No keyboard traps — users can navigate into and out of all interactive components.

Forms and Inputs

  • Form fields include associated label elements or descriptive aria-label attributes.
  • Required fields are clearly indicated.
  • Error messages are descriptive and programmatically associated with the relevant form fields.
  • Form validation feedback is presented both visually and through text.

Content

  • Clear and descriptive link text (avoiding “click here” patterns).
  • Page language is declared in the HTML (lang="en").
  • Consistent navigation structure across all pages.
  • Pages have unique and descriptive title elements.

3. Known Limitations

While we work continuously to ensure accessibility across our Website, the following limitations are currently known:

  • Third-party payment forms: The embedded payment form provided by Stripe may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. Stripe provides their own accessibility improvements, but we cannot control all aspects of their embedded interface.
  • Security challenges: The Cloudflare Turnstile bot verification widget is managed by Cloudflare and may present accessibility challenges for some assistive technologies. Cloudflare continues to improve the accessibility of Turnstile.
  • User-generated content: Blog post content and administrative entries may occasionally lack optimal accessibility formatting. We review and correct issues as they are identified.
  • Embedded maps: Links to Google Maps for directions open in an external application and are subject to Google’s own accessibility standards.

We are committed to addressing these limitations as solutions become available and will work with our third-party providers to improve accessibility over time.

4. Conformance Status

We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all pages of our Website that are within our direct control. Pages that rely heavily on third-party embedded content (such as payment checkout) may achieve partial conformance due to factors outside our control.

We conduct periodic accessibility reviews and testing using a combination of automated tools and manual evaluation, including screen reader testing.

5. Alternative Ways to Access Our Services

6. Accessible Formats

Upon request, we will provide information available on our Website in an accessible format or with communication support, in a manner that takes into account the person’s accessibility needs, in accordance with the AODA’s Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation. Please contact us to make a request and we will work with you to determine the most suitable format.

7. Training

In accordance with the AODA, Aztec Tacos provides training to all employees and volunteers on Ontario’s accessibility laws and the Ontario Human Rights Code as it pertains to people with disabilities. Training includes how to interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities, how to use equipment or devices available at our premises that may help in providing services, and what to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty accessing our services.

8. Feedback and Complaints

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of our Website and services. If you encounter a barrier, have a suggestion for improvement, or wish to file a complaint regarding an accessibility issue, please contact us:

Email: contact@aztectacos.ca

Phone: (613) 741-9998

We will acknowledge receipt of your feedback within two (2) business days and will make every reasonable effort to address the concern promptly. Complaints will be reviewed and you will receive a response within thirty (30) days.

9. Accessible Customer Service

In accordance with the AODA’s Customer Service Standard (Ontario Regulation 429/07), Aztec Tacos is committed to providing accessible customer service to people with disabilities. This means:

  • We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take their disability into account.
  • We will serve people who use assistive devices (such as wheelchairs, walkers, hearing aids, or communication boards) and ensure they can access our services.
  • We welcome people with disabilities to use their own personal assistive devices on our premises.
  • If a person with a disability is having difficulty accessing our goods or services, our staff will work with them to find a suitable way to meet their needs.

10. Service Animals

We welcome service animals into our restaurant. A service animal is any animal that is used by a person with a disability for reasons relating to their disability. The animal must be kept under the control of its handler at all times. If it is not readily apparent that the animal is a service animal, our staff may ask for documentation from a regulated health professional confirming that the person requires the animal for reasons relating to their disability.

If a service animal is excluded by law from the premises (for example, under health and safety regulations), we will explain why and explore alternative ways to provide our services to the person with the disability.

11. Support Persons

A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person is welcome to enter our restaurant with their support person. A support person is an individual hired or chosen by a person with a disability to provide services or assistance with communication, mobility, personal care, medical needs, or access to goods and services. At no time will a person with a disability be prevented from having access to their support person while on our premises. No additional fee will be charged for a support person accompanying a guest.

12. Physical Accessibility

Our restaurant location at 77 Montréal Road, Vanier, Ottawa is accessible at street level. We strive to maintain an accessible physical environment for all guests. If you have specific accessibility needs when visiting our restaurant, please call us in advance at (613) 741-9998 and we will do our best to accommodate you.

13. Disruption of Accessible Services

In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to an accessible facility or service at our restaurant (for example, if an accessible entrance is temporarily unavailable due to construction), we will provide notice of the disruption, the reason for the disruption, its anticipated duration, and a description of alternative facilities or services available. Notice will be provided by signage at the premises and, where feasible, on our Website or social media channels.

14. Continuous Improvement

We are committed to the continuous improvement of accessibility on our Website and in our services. We regularly review our content, design, and technology to identify and remove barriers. As part of our commitment, we will review this Accessibility Statement at least annually and update it as needed. This is an ongoing process and we appreciate your patience and feedback as we work to improve.
